Sophie Daniels

Sophie

Obsessed with music from an early age, Sophie was always involved in composing and performing music. A precocious interest in lyrics became apparent at 5 when quizzing her father closely about the content of Abba’s ‘Waterloo’ and kept developing into the teenage years when she began to write her own songs.

Brought up with 60s and 80s Pop and the Classic Songwriters of the 30s as well as classical repertoire, Sophie began playing piano, orchestral instruments, singing and performing in shows. Studying jazz singing technique in Leeds and touring with The University Big band and Girl Pop Group 'One Condition' as well as performing in Popular Musicals kept many areas of musical interest alive until a move to London to work for BBC Music Live.

Sophie then spent 5 years working for Major record labels, at Sony UK and then S Records (BMG) working for Simon Cowell on Major Pop projects. In 2003, Sophie finally became a professional songwriter specialising in lyrics. Having performed her own material both solo and with band projects - most recently 'The Love Stories', writing has always been the motivation and the last 12 months have seen a prolific outcome of solo and collaborative work. Demos of Sophie’s recent songs are currently being produced by Rob Persaud.

Current projects include country and pop work with main collaborator Dario Cortese, Soul tracks written for a forthcoming album with the super talented Laura Welsh and country tracks soon to be recorded in Nashville by CMA Nominee Rachael Warwick.

A real all rounder, Sophie also does private coaching and teaches singing and MDs shows at the famous Italia Conti School of Performing Arts.
