Phil Capone
We are proud to have Phil Capone join our guitar faculty at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. His extensive experience as a musician makes him a great guitar teacher for our students.
He gained extensive touring and recording experience during the early 80s with The Mobiles which was followed by a stint as a session guitarist for Arista records including invaluable recording experience with renowned producer/engineer Tony Platt (AC/DC and Foreigner).
Phil went on to form the group Wild Honey in 1984, a band that enjoyed a brief gigging and recording career under the management of the legendary Peter Grant. He has been fortunate to work with many respected artists including Maggie Bell, Beverly Martin, Jason Bonham, Wilko Johnson and Jim Mullen.
In the late 80s he returned to full-time education and gained invaluable experience playing the Working Men’s Clubs throughout the region with various soul and funk outfits over a period of four years. Phil, a long-time contributor to Guitar Techniques magazine, can be currently seen performing in and around London with various jazz artists, including a regular weekly gig with his jazz quintet.
