Specializing in country guitar styles, Andy has been gigging and teaching as a professional guitarist for 14 years.
Having graduated from The Guitar Institute with a distinction in1995, he has studied further with Lee Hodgson, who in his book, ‘Hot Country’, describes Andy as being one in a group of “ fine British country guitar players”.
Andy has established himself as one of the UK country music scene’s top players and has had a busy touring schedule for many years having gained experience in many different live situations from small club gigs to major festivals, both in the UK and Europe and has backed USA singers, Michael Twitty (son of country legend, Conway), Alexa Hamilton, and has toured with USA fiddle player/ singer John Permenter (Clint Black). He has also worked with drummer, Karl Brasil (Lulu, Darius), bass player, Dave Swift (Jules Holland) and Nashville based guitarist/ songwriter, Glen Mitchell (Lonestar, Billy Currington).
Andy has been a tutor at the Institute for a number of years, initially as a deputy teacher due to his busy gigging schedule, but more recently at ICMP (formally The Guitar Institute) as a regular member of the teaching faculty. He has also been a guest tutor for Guitarist and Guitar Techniques magazines featuring his transcriptions and recordings of solos by Jerry Donohue and Brent Mason.
Along with his fellow ICMP tutor and country guitar nut, Dario Cortese, Andy is usually seen with a guitar in his hands in relentless pursuit of ‘ the secret lick’!!
