Terry GregoryProgramme Leader (HE) / Head of Bass
Terry has spent much of the last 10 years playing bass with some of the country's finest guitarists including jazz supremo Martin Taylor and his award winning group Spirit of Django, and also ex-Genesis member Steve Hackett.
Svetlana VassilevaSvetlana Vassileva joined the Institute as a bass teacher straight after graduating with BMus Honours. She toured the UK extensively with her band, The Vegastones supporting Duran Duran for their 2000 UK arena tour and has worked with such names as Busted, Moby, and Abs.
Alan MianAlan Mian has studied with two of the UK's finest bassists: Laurence Cottle and Jeff Clyne. During his time at the Institute, he has played bass in the UK and abroad with some of the leading names in British jazz, such as, Tim Whitehead, Ian Carr, Julian Joseph, John Surman, Lol Coxhill and Alex Wilson among others.
John CurrieJohn Currie is one of the most versatile and experienced freelance bassists on the London music scene today. He has worked with everyone from Alvin Stardust to Guns'n'Roses guitarist Slash. Currie also writes for Bassist and Guitarist magazines, and specialises in advanced funk and rock styles.
Dave MarksDave Marks has worked with a range of artists from many different genres, including Carl Palmer (ELP), Paul Carrack (Squeeze, Mike & The Mechanics) Leo Green (Jools Holland Big Band), Sarah deCourcy (Melanie C.), The Goondocks, Rosalie Deighton and death metal-fusion pioneers Linear Sphere.
Paul ScottPaul Scott has played bass guitar and double bass professionally for over thirty years and has worked with artists as diverse as Burt Bacharach, Billy Eckstine, Jimmy Witherspoon, Brian Johnson (AC/DC) and Jamie Cullum.
Matt MartinMatt has quickly established himself as a busy freelance bassist. he has worked with such acts and artists as Westlife, Holly Valance and Darren Hayes. He has also played at the Royal Albert Hall, NIA, Shepherds Bush Empire and Hyde Park and has appeared on TOTP, CD:UK, Pepsi Chart Show and T4. Matt also works frequently in London’s West End.
