This year the Institute found itself in the presence of the hugely successful producer/songwriter Jony "Rockstar" Lipsey. His impressive CV includes ten TOP 10 singles (including the Sugababes megahits Overload and Ugly) and loads of work with diverse artists from Tom Jones to Bjork.

The masterclass was crammed with the Institute's students and saw many vocalists (and a few guitarists!) given the opportunity to sing for Jony and receive honest feedback on how their vocal performance could be used in a studio situation and advice on how to improve on it.

Throughout the masterclass Jony was able to answer many detailed questions about the inner-workings of the music industry and studio posed by students. This gave an interesting insight from the perspective of a successful industry worker, in a successful masterclass.  The Institute looks forward to welcoming back Jony in the future!
