Jimmy Smith is the A&R manager at Parlophone - the World's coolest record label!

Parlophone have signed such acts as Coldplay, The Kooks and Jimmy's most recent signing - Tiny Dancers. Jimmy visited the Institute to chat exclusively to our students about how they can get themselves noticed in the highly competitve music industry.

Jimmy talked openly about the role of an A&R man, what he looks for in a demo and he even played the original demos sent to Parlophone by Coldplay and The Kooks. Jimmy then gave our students' music a listen. He picked out a number of tracks at random and imparted his words of wisdom!
