One of New York's hottest young bassists Janek Gwizdala returned to The Institute, bringing German drum-phenom and Jem bandmate Benno Sattler in tow. The two performed in a variety of styles, from drum\'n\'bass to hardcore Jazz and then threw in a bit of Earth, Wind & Fire for the groove lovers in the audience.

Janek shared his thoughts on the state of music education and the importance of being part of a vibrant, sharing musical community. He discussed the 'different hats' that musicians wear in Pop, Jazz and Rock sessions and the importance of patience and good networking skills for young musicians.

Both performers took questions from the audience, showing that alongside monster chops and deep musicianship, both were open and humble people, happy to share all that they had learned living and working in the Big Apple.
