Known in the industry as “King Bass”, he is simply a bass playing legend.  So much so that top bassists Dave Swift and Mike Mondesir dropped in to catch the clinic.  He has worked with legends such as Louis Armstrong and Aretha Franklin, Steely Dan, Paul Simon and Quincy Jones.  He answered a huge range of questions from musical queries, technique, the music business and studio etiquette in a humourous and down-to-earth style. He spoke passionately about his role in the creation of some of the greatest music of the latter past of the 20th century. Not only is the man an icon of bass guitar playing, he also has a very deep and spiritual understanding of his art, something that really hit a chord with all who were present.

The last time ‘King Bass’ was in the UK was nearly 30 years ago and this was the first time he has ever held a clinic here, so to have the opportunity for our students to talk to someone of Chuck’s stature and experience was without parallel.
