On the 4th of December one of the world’s most enduring legends of rock bass stop by The Institute for a masterclass. Billy is regarded by many as the most virtuosic bassist alive, with a career backing some of the biggest names in rock, from David Lee Roth and Mr. Big to Steve Vai.

In a refreshingly down-to-Earth style, Billy shared the wisdom he has gained from playing over 4000 gigs all over the world. He answered questions on many of his jaw-dropping techniques and openly said he would ‘show us any lick we’d like to see!’

Billy’s most enduring piece of wisdom was that he treats everyone as equals, from the head of a record company to his roadies –he said ‘You never know where a person will end up in life and treating someone badly could come back and bite you in the future!’

Billy’s great sense of humour and his willingness to let everyone in on his playing and practice secrets meant this masterclass was one of the most entertaining and educational that we’ve ever had!
