About the International Guitar Foundation (IGF):

IGF BandThe guitar occupies a unique place in the hearts and hands of players and enthusiasts, one unequalled by any other instrument. Over the past one hundred years, the guitar’s cultural significance has been assureds. Its elegant presence has been felt for more than four hundred years. Its global impact on music has never been stronger than it is today. At the IGF (International Guitar Foundation) we've wholeheartedly understood, embraced and promoted the guitar’s broad appeal for the last fourteen years.
We have nurtured and celebrated the varied pleasures of this beautiful and multi-faceted instrument with unparalleled dedication. We've offered concerts and recitals all over the country, from The Royal Festival Hall and the Sage Gateshead, to schools and youth clubs and in every field of music, from classical to blues, from flamenco to jazz and from rock, via folk, to world music. We encourage people to crossover between improvised and written music and to make other exciting choices. We have taught the guitar in schools around the country, staged educational programmes at all levels and organised festivals, seminars and workshops nationwide and during our famous summer schools in Bath. We have commissioned and recorded more serious new music for the guitar from composers than any other institution. As a result of our dedication, we have created a substantial legacy of contemporary music for future generations
We appeal to an extraordinary range of people, from primary school age children through to aspiring teenagers, twenty- and thirty-somethings and middle-aged, middle-management escapees, through to enthusiasts aged up to of eighty. All of these people regularly choose to learn and / or to listen and / or to perform with us, whether they are beginners, teachers or professionals of recognised status. Our wide-ranging work attracts and reaches many people who want to explore the knowledge and experiences we offer.
